Incidents in the life of a western boy, 1891.

Manuscript written in the first person in an unidentified hand. The author, who refers to himself as Billy, describes his participation in a six-week expedition to Kansas "buffalo country" in 1847 for the purpose of capturing buffalo calves to be domesticated by a Captain Robinson from Tennessee. The party included the Captain; his nephew Harry Robinson and black servant Bob; Daniel, James, and Napoleon Boone (sons of Daniel Boone); a Captain Benjamin Steele; the author's cousin; and the author. Points along their route included Council Grove, Kansas, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Arkansas River. The author describes the Kansa, Comanche, and Osage that the men encountered, as well as birds and mammals that they saw and hunted.
